AUGUST DISCUSSION - WHAT'S IN YOUR WINDOWS?
Why is it that stores don’t take advantage of their largest and most visible space to use for marketing? Many stores have blank walls and windows. Or they are cluttered up with messages and advertisements of businesses unrelated to them. Why not use this space to sell your store and brand? You don’t need to be super creative or spend a fortune to do something that looks nice and works with your brand. So why aren’t more people doing so?
In most cases, you have already paid a high
premium for your location. Why spend
money on a local newspaper ad when those
same local people are driving or walking by
your store? Your storefront is your ad space
and you have already paid for it’s use, so
take advantage of the media you own!
Changeable wall graphics are in! From scenes on the wall to use in your home, so it appears you are never alone, to quotes or signs. What once was expensive to change is now easy and affordable.
Check out Wonderful Graffiti. Next time you have an event or want to promote an item, forget a handwritten sign! You can quickly and easily create words or images online and post them on the window, wall, ceiling, wherever.
And there are many ways you can get creative. For easy, do-it-yourself projects, stock up on magnetic or chalkboard paint and use your walls as sign holders without any tape, tacks or other messy and unsightly holders.
Kinkos and other print shops now can create window clings and vinyl inexpensively as well so there is no reason to not promote your store and use your windows and walls as marketing media.

It made shopping feel so much more energetic and alive. So let’s get creative, there are so many cool things out there, you just need to use them.
